Free of Life

Image
This project was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed working with the metallic paint, and I think it looks very good with the black background. I think mine turned out well. One thing I struggled with was the limbs of the tree. I think I made mine too skinny, which made staying in the lines when painting difficult. He balls on the limbs represent my two parents, my two sisters, and myself.

Dot Day

Image
My dot did not turn out well. I don't think I used enough force when I was coloring, because the color did not bleed as much as it was supposed to. I think it was a fun project, it just did not turn out well for me.

Hidden Safari

Image
I enjoyed this project. You cannot see it, but I chose a lion to draw with the blue pencil. I did a series of triangles, circles, and squiggles as a pattern to hide the lion. I struggled to know how much to add to the pattern, but I think it worked out well.

Footprint

Image
This is my footprint. I added the letters LHS in my high school colors because I think high school shaped the person I am today. I put a rugby ball because I played in high school and it is my favorite sport. The space needle is on my footprint because I was born in Washington and it is where I consider home. The blue star is the Dallas Cowboys logo because I am a die-hard cowboys fan. The compass is supposed to represent my love and desire for traveling. Lately, I picked the yellow background because it is my favorite color.

My photographs-elements and principles of design

Image
Some of my photographs were taken here in Aberdeen. I do not like my photos that I took here because I did not capture what I wanted to. I took most of the other ones in Chicago. I like these ones very much. I took them with a professional camera and I think they look much more professional.

Van Gogh Collage

Image
I struggled with this project. Getting the paper to lay down flat was something I struggled with. My horizon was supposed to be mountains and the background was supposed to be be northern lights. I went with shades of blue and green to try to make it seem like the state of Washington, particularly Seattle.

Oil Pastel

Image
For this project, we learned how to create art using oil pastels. We used different techniques to make different patterns. I struggled with using different forces for different techniques. I find that I write and draw with a lot of force and do not notice it.

3-D Design

Image
This is the project Lydia and I did. We were teaching 3-D design using pipe cleaners, aluminum foil, and foam blocks. We talked about Alberto Giacometti and his depiction of the human form. I liked the way the statues turned out. One struggle that everyone, including myself, seemed to have was trying to keep the statue to stay standing.

Printmaking

Image
I liked this project. I think it was fun working with different styles of printmaking. Working with the stencils was very fun, and I liked the different stencils that we used. One struggle I had was getting the paint to stay on the paper. It was tough getting the gel pad to the paper fast enough they the paper did not dry.

Clay

Image
I thought this was a creative project. Working with the clay was my favorite activity we did in the class. Sculpting the clay was relatively simple, including pressing it with a seashell. It was difficult painting the pendant. The paint did not want to stay on the clay.

Crafts

Image
I loved this project. My egg carton animal was an orange bear. I thought this project was very creative and would be extremely fun for young students to create. I did find the egg cartons very small, so it was difficult to manipulate all the pieces as well as color the carton. It would be much easier for a young child to do.
